Heart of Autumn
One of my favorite walks in the fall is at the Spirit-in-Nature trail in Ripton, Vermont. The intertwined paths lend themselves to quiet contemplation and open my heart to the beauty of nature. It feels like a sanctuary for the soul. I walk through the woods, circle the ponds, cross small bridges over the streams, and explore the shoreline of the South Branch of the Middlebury River. In the fall, the brilliant colors of the autumn leaves are reflected in the water, giving another magical dimension to autumn splendor. In this image, I paused to marvel at the colors in the stream which seemed to dance among the rocks, fallen leaves and fir needles. When I saw a rock peeking out the water that looked just a heart, I felt like I had encountered magic!
