Fun Vermont Stuff

Sometimes I encounter something that tickles my fancy. Enjoy! If you would like to order prints, please email me on the Contact page. Print sizes can vary from 8x10 up to 16x20. Some images work well as panoramas. My favorite photo paper is lustre although glossy and matte are also options as are archival art papers.

  • Geezum Crow Go Slow

    Geezum Crow Go Slow

Calais, Vermont - August 2012. In case you don't know, Geezum Crow is a Vermont colloquialism. How "802"! I had to add this to my collection of "Signs I Love"!

    Freeze Dried

Sometimes I see something that makes me stop and pull over. This was one of those times. Drying clothes outside used to be common, no matter the season. It is still done quite a bit in Vermont in the summer, but winter definitely requires commitment. February 2020 -- Bristol, Vermont

    Telephone Booth

I get a big tug of nostalgia when I see this old telephone booth "out standing in its field" up in the mountains of Ripton at the Rikert Nordic Center. It no longer is used for phone calls but it still has quite a presence. Ripton, Vermont -- September 2020

July 2015 - More than 400 colorful birdhouses are in these woods in a marshland on South Hero Island on Lake Champlain. Tree swallows nest in them and keep the mosquitos at bay.

    Lots of License Plates

It is such a delight to encounter something like this unexpectedly on a quiet back road. Hancock, Vermont

  • Roadside Vermont - Queen Connie & the VW Bug

Roadside Vermont - Queen Connie & the VW Bug

Leicester, Vermont - July 2016. So billboards are not allowed in Vermont, but an auto sales business on Route 7 got around that law creatively by commissioning this sculpture in steel-reinforced concrete in 1987. The local artist who made it was T.J. Neil. I wonder if he also made "Kampy", the huge squirrel in nearby Kampersville on Lake Dunmore?
