Middlebury Falls is an impressively broad waterfall along Otter Creek located in downtown Middlebury. The falls plunge only 18 feet over an undercut shelf, but stretch 170 feet across. Although many years ago the falls used to provide power to industrial mills, over time Middlebury has evolved to be more tourist-oriented. Public space around the falls gives views from several perspectives and Riverfront Park has a heads-on views of the falls. There are also walking paths, picnic tables, and a long metal foot-bridge which crosses Otter Creek in the calmer space downstream from the falls.
